Survey results show support for Children’s Psychiatric Center

Assemblyman Michael Kearns has received more than 1,400 responses from the community on the first day of returned mailers regarding the Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center, according to a press release from the assemblyman.

A survey asking residents “Do you want Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo to sign the bill to block the closing of the WNY Children’s Psychiatric Center?” was sent to all residents in the 142nd Assembly District.

Of the surveys returned by July 5, 99.99 percent of the responses have been positive, urging Gov. Cuomo to sign legislation keeping the Children’s Psychiatric Center open and operating at its West Seneca facility, according to the assemblyman.

“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community to keep the WNY Children’s Psychiatric Center open,” Kearns said. “In the 12 years I have served in elected office, I have never seen such an immediate and consistent response to a singular issue. It is clear the community sees the importance of this facility, along with the unanimous support from the state legislators.

“We are all calling on Gov. Cuomo to sign this bill, and save the children,” he said.

Kearns has partnered with Sen. Patrick Gallivan, Assemblymen David DiPietro and Angelo Morinello, and other area legislators who are taking similar initiatives in their districts.
